Night Watchmen
Banks in the early days before burglar alarms were put into operation maintained
night watchmen, this picture being the one operated by Croghan Bank and Savings
Company. The early publication which contained the picture said: "In addition to
the regular outside night patrols the bank had two well-armed men sleeping in
the building".

Children's Department
Croghan Bank and Savings Company provided a place for youngsters to learn about
banking. It was called "the most precious spot in the bank," because it provided
children with their first lesson in business, about how to be thrifty and
industrious, and "growing up to be manly men and womanly women".
